With more Law Enforcement and industrial users having a need for small, compact drones in the field, its no surprise that a new pair of leaked photos show a DJI drone filling such a demand. If the Mavic Enterprise is really on the horizon, this could be a powerful tool for inspectors and Law Enforcement.
Upon review of the leaked photos, there are some interesting changes that look to be coming our way. Lets take a look at what we can deduct from the photos.
Custom brackets will expand the functionality of the Mavic exponentially. When law enforcement works a barricaded suspect, hostage, or search and rescue, they could issue commands with a loud speaker. Those flying at night could use the beacon to be in compliance with FAA regulation. Maybe in the future, a spotlight could be in the works?
It would be a bold move to remove the battery status indicator lights from the battery, but it seems there is only a single power button on this Mavic. Maybe its a test battery or is this going to be the new standard?
A cut into the side of the aircraft could be one of two things, additional vents for cooling, or a (long awaited) side vision sensor. It’s more likely to be a side vision sensor as the environments the enterprise client would be using this type of drone in would be much closer than most photographers, videographers, and hobbyists.
Police are frequent purchasers of the Mavic Pro Platinum and could heavily benefit from a new Enterprise Edition. When in a barricaded suspect, hostage, or search and rescue situation, giving orders through a loud speaker attached to a drone could be a huge advantage instead of having to moving an officer in close. When flying up to a window with a suspect inside, they can negotiate or command without needing to risk an attempt to deploy another communication device.
If brackets are truly interchangeable, we’d likely see searchlight or other very specified options for search and rescue.
Many inspections taking place within industrial settings are in close quarters to walls or cables. Having additional vision sensors for the obstacle avoidance to utilize would drastically cut down on crashes when inspecting silos, containers, and tanks.
The interchangeable brackets would be helpful if able to add things like thermal, sonar, or gas detection. Currently, these options aren’t available on such a small platform and such a thing could really change the industry.
If a Mavic Enterprise is truly on the horizon, it likely would be a industry changer. The interchangeable brackets, allowing you to customize the drone for your mission, would be truly revolutionary in such a stable and advanced platform.
What types of brackets can you think of that would help Law Enforcement or Commercial/Industrial Inspectors? Do you think a drone like this deserves the hype?
